My missus bought one of these and it seems to work well round the city. I have been trying to find out what else it can do as it comes with a few inputs .......................... Only thing is IT HAS NO INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!! yep thats right all it has is a cd that directs you to a website that cannot be found. A visit to their website reveals manuels for all there product............ but not that one.
Does anyone know anything about them. I doubt it for the price but I was wondering if decent maps can be loaded in and used for 4eding or something

Hello Dave - I have a Mio p550 Digiwalker - which is completely different (well hardware wise) so no help there:) One thing I do notice is that it yours has a Microsoft Windows CE v5.0 operating system (ie it is a "pocket PC") so you can use OziExplorer CE on it. AFAIK you can not use any other maps with the supplied MIO 3 software apart from theirs. Did it come with car bracket/12V power cord? - mine did - good value.

Cheers
Greg
I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

yes it did although she lost the bracket or part of it or something. It seemed ok vale but latrly there has been some chep nav mans etc , usual story its always cheaper a month later. She got told you can put other maps on it I think but she really has no intrest in it other than getting round the city (I have other plans for it if possible) No manuel is a PITA as anything other than basic operation is a plug and play affair

Geez I feel sorry for you mate ,anyhow you got it now so it will do until it's time for a re-newal, It really has me stumped why people buy Navmans and such , OK if your only going to use it in the city , I met a 4X4er in the back hill of Perth at Mt Dale a few weeks ago , he bought a Navman in Sydney , he said none of the tracks we were on that were on it , Garmin has so much more to offer , If you get a unit with a CD Mapsource and install it on the Laptop or PC you can make waypoints, Routes, work out distances , and the gps will have streets for every town in Australia from Eucla to Birdsvill to Bamaga and to the top of the cape , go to my website and see what i have on there .My web site is only a guide and full of links , I don't sell em , it's there to give people help in what to look for ,

Hi Davoe,

Got my In laws the model up from yours at Xmas and helped them learn the workings etc.

FWIW and YMMV as the units are different I've got to say I was V.V.V. impressed, highly accurate, touch screen, easy to use. Interstate runs were flawless the POI real etc etc. And for the In laws use they can now drive with confidence and not stress about making a mistake or being harrassed by hoons for driving too slow etc.

As for the manuals, the system is designed to be intuative, ie press it and see what happens - you can always go backwards a page if wrong and also there are multiple ways to do the same task.

The manuals for ours was on the supplied disk. BUT I think they were listed as something else, might of been Welcome or some such. I think there were 5 options. Perhaps instead of letting the disk run automatically close it and then open it from the CD Drive in My Computer.

You can update the supplied map --- for a fee @ $150

I do not think the system will work with other map formats other than Mio. I AM NOT SURE THO...

There should/may be a function that will give your compass heading, present Lat Lon position and the ability to type in a Lat Lon position for a destination. While that won't direct you to apropriate tracks etc it wil make cross referencing to a paper map possible. Not ideal as far as navman functionality goes but better than a compass and odometer.

Tell us all if you do find a map for it as I will rush out and get mine now!

Regards,

Slammin.
