Thanks to all who gave advice today. Got onto
Adelaide base (VKS-737) tonight. Spoke to ray and had a chat. He was coming in 5 x 5.
Thanks again for the help. I am now a veteran of ONE S ked.

Hitting the PTT the first time was a bit daunting, but the friendly voice (Ray) at the other end helped a lot. Even got the better half involved.

Hi Vince,
Like above, welcome to the VKS 737 Radio Network. Many things change in time, mostly for the better. I have been a member of the network since 1994 and you get to hear some great people. Many people have said to get rid of the HF and get a Sat phone. There have been a couple on times in remote outback locations where others in my group have had, and could not get through to the outside world. Turn on the HF and will get someone from the many bases around Australia.
These guys do a fantastic job and it is a real piece of mind when travelling into our great outback to know that help if needed is only a call away. It is cheap insurance to be a member of this great Radio Network.

G'day Vince
Got a good copy on you through my local receiver here near Camden last night..
No probs. with calling up bases for a chat (if they're a bit quiet).
Just a reminder,
Adelaide Base is manned by Phil on Fridays, Darian on Saturdays and me on Sundays.
Call up and say Hi !!!!

Signman,
You would have picked me up on ground waves last night. Where I transmitted from was direct line of sight to the Oaks ? Camden. I will be working in Camden on Sunday. We have a Hazardous Household Chemical Collection at the Show Ground, our first for the Year.If your down that way call in. I am not sure what time I will be
home on Sunday night, but will try for the 1930 sked.
regards
Vince
