Tim, you are a diamond mate! Read your post and installed Spam Fighter last night. It works a treat. (insert usual disclaimer here)

Thanks again.

Report it to your ISP. They can block it completely to the MAC address in the offenders computer (harrassment) and take it further legally if need be.

Mail Washer is also a help in filtering the $hit before you download it to your machine.
Allows you to blacklist the crap.

I have been using mailwasher for some time now and though it seems to work I was still getting big mobs of spam. I installed spamfighter and find it is far superior to mailwasher.
The only problem with it is it will not work with thunderbird.

Mail Washer won't block the crap but will allow you to filter it and bounce and delete it at the ISP server level.

It allows me to quickly scan the incoming email list for the important stuff before dumping the $hit.

Angler, Thunderbird has it own junk mail controls built in. The adaptive filter works very well indeed after a little training.

My ISP (Westnet) filters out SPAM and emails me a list each day in case i want to retrieve any. Mostly it gets 20 - 40 meaningless total garbage emails from overseas.

Outlook gets a few that slip the net and puts them into junk mail box (i check as it occasionally gets legit mail).

Any that get through both of above, i then make a "rule" on that sender, ISP, wording or whatever to put straight in the delete box when they arrive, or just "block sender" - does the same thing.

I have just been using the rules in outlook to filter my usual mail into folders.
If it turns up and stays in my inbox then it is either junk mail or mail from a new source. A quick scan through and its sorted.....

As you could imagine I get many personally offensive emails go here & report it:

Spam is another problem but the free spam filters work well. In Outlook Express under the mail rules you can set up rules to not download emails from any given address, that sometimes works.
For people who send you viruses knowingly see if you can find software called "Nuke Them", you send it to them & it formats their hard drive for them....
