Found another photo of Big Red that was taken during the big wind in October.

Thoes that know the west side of Big Red will notice that the tracks are gone and the tree is where you have to turn to the left. Just above the tree are 3 people, and that is where we had to go and get over a very steep lip.

Was having the same thoughts. We were there in Sugust / September 05 and it looks pretty different now to what it did then.

Wayne

From that perspective Big Red looks like a doddle...lol

I am sure it is easier to drive now than the first time I tried to cross it in 1987.
Still, last time I had to take the nursery slope(the one pictured) to get over...lol

The desert is always changing.

Jee things change quicky, Late July this year, watched a bog stock 40 series petrol tray go over the same route in low first. We went up in high range auto, in a 100 series TD, bit different I guess. Tried the steeper section to the left, had a couple of goes but went over with the front wheels in the air. Amazing what difference time makes, and a turbo and chip.........

When we were there in 05 I had numerous attempts at getting over in a 3.0 Patrol and finally made it after many attempts. A few years earlier in a 2.8 Pajero it was almost a walk in the park. Very interesting how different it is year to year.
