Hi,
I was originally going to be travelling the
Birdsville track in early October, but due to work getting in the way i've had to put the holiday to late Nov. Is this going to be to late in regards to the weather to do the trip? any one got any opinions?
Thanks,
Paul

There are a lot more people more experienced than me here with the "track" but I have mostly travelled it in June or thereabouts and it is different every time. Often wet or chopped up.
I have done a few in February and each time it has been smooth as.
Keep an eye on the Road Reports sections of the Auto Clubs (I use RACQ road reports) as they are usually up to date. This should give you a trend to what is happening with it.
I could only guess to say November would be OK.
Cheers
Cam

As others have mentioned here a lot over many posts, given good road condition (subject to many things) your main worry would probably be heat levels - if you can't cope with a vehicle
breakdown in the full midday sun, at mid 40 degress, give it a miss.

I travel the track any time if I'm in the area , last time was last January 2006 ,providing there is no rain forcast and the Cooper is dry you won't have any problems, just make sure you have all the safety stuff and food just in case.
