Footloose
Popped the bonnet of my 80 series yesterday. Some of the rubber pipes have a white covering over them. The heater pipe appears to be the worst. The covering will come off if you wet your finger and rub hard.
There are no leaks anywhere.
Any guesses what the powdery white stuff is ?
What I use to remover it easily ?

Hey Footloose,
I'll have a stab at it, have you changed your coolant of late.
I believe if you use a different coolant to the one you have been running without flushing the system, it can cuse problems with chemical reactions.
Being on the outside of the hoses, how old are the hoses, could they be at the end of there use by date.
Any pin hole leaks under pressure?
Back to you

Coolant not changed for 12 months. All fluid levels Ok. Hoses are 12 months old.
Just wondering if mech has sprayed something onto the hoses to make them look good and thats what I'm seeing ?
