Hi everyone,
Well after we got over the van being stolen(thanks to you all by the way, for your words of support, and no, we never heard anything about it), the insurance paid out and we decided to give tenting a try.
So, we are looking for somewhere to
camp at
Easter, our first go in the new tent. Everywhere we've tried is either booked out or has a minimum 7 night booking. Somewhere close to
the beach would be nice, but a nice green hinterland site would do, needs to have showers and
toilets.
Any suggestions??
Thanks heaps
Kylie & Tony

Hi Tony*H,
I would suggest Woodgate, 40klms east of
Childers, if you don't have children. I was there on Sunday to see if it had changed since I used to take my 4 there about 10 yrs ago. There is a
nice beach on the ocean side, but it is very steep, so wouldn't recommend it for very small children. If you turn left at the esplanade, when you get to the end of the road from
Childers, a five minute drive will bring you to a relatively calm beach for families. There were still a few around when we left about 4:40pm. There is a Caravan
Park when you turn right along the esplanade so you might be able to
camp there. We went to the furthest point south where there is a new state-of-the-art playground and
toilet block and we were amazed at the Kangaroos lying around it. They didn't hop away when we got close either, so you would have to restrain small kinder from rushing over to them, as they are wont to do. There are two small shops as far as I could see. I wish we had taken our camera now.
P.S.
After looking in our
camping book there is a
camping area 8klms south but accessable by 4wd only. Booking & permit required-at least 6-12 minths in advance, (sorry about that) gas/fuel stoves only, no gennies.

hi
kylie and tony
you could also consider
palm beach
south of bundy near coonar
permits most likely required not sure though
also a nice little fishing spot north of bundy
called miara or myra..not sure of the spelling
good luck with that :)
cheers pips

Some mongrel pinched your van? Tony, seems there are more blatant thefths (forgive the lisp, pithed stilith) around than one would realise. Makes me happy that we drive a piece of 'bleep.
You lodge a big ask: showers etc at
Easter?
Canungra has nice grounds.
Miara, (as previously suggested) is good but busy.
Kroombit Tops (nearish
Monto: quite high;cool; near Lancaster[NO]
crash site) may be worth a google, as may be
St George, Boondooma dam
Would you consider a run down toward Killarney?
Good friend, I do believe that it is Member Bonz who says "Don't putt the peppery things, nor ever pepper the
putty things": take that with a grain of salt, and you'll find a top
camp. (Feel free to member message).
Yet again, (his Wife), jeff.

Thanks heaps for your responses, we have a few to try out, hopefully we'll get something. We are heading down to
Brooms Head for a week in late Feb, so looking at somewhere a little closer to home (
Toowoomba) at
Easter. Anyone been to Boreen Point? How about
Flat Rock tent
park at
Ballina?
Jeff, our Jayco Dove was stolen from Trailervan here in
Toowoomba, they cut through the fence and took ours and another smaller one. It competely gutted us to tell the truth, we have 2 little boys and they absolutely loved that van. I'm sure they'll love the tent too, can't wait to try it out.
