Who tows a van with a Troopy?

I do ....when I do which is not often but my mirrors are not standard ones. but I use a little extension mirror that kinda looks like a scissor arms on it and it sits really good

Just had a look at it and there is no name on it other than US.pat.Product and a number but it is a little ripper I got in a Repco store

Hi John....I installed a camera on the rear of mine which I use all the time (don't know what I ever did without it) and the screen is the size of a rear view mirror and goes in the same place...for towng a caravan I have a second camera which goes on the caravan and it is absolutely brilliant. saves so much grief I can tell you.
The one on the troopy is so usefull in shopping centres etc and I have the cofidence to go anywhere and know that I can park, reverse, etc with ease with no danger with people or cars or whatever....I have dark curtains all around so the camera is essential I also have those convex mirrors stuck on my own side mirrors to give me greater vision....it all works very well....you can see them at 4wd shows and a car and caravan package can be purchased for about $400-$500 and comes as a kit....regards Phil

I tow a 2.5m wide boat with my troopie and towing mirrors had been a problerm until I came up with this idea.
I made a bracket ( out of an old metal tent pole) and screwed it to the metal tube snorkel. On the upper end is a mirror with a swivel mount. The mirror is far enough forward to clear the opened driver door frame and gives a good view back.
When not in use the screw holes just have the screws minus the bracket.
This idea possibly wont work with the newer plastic snorkels.

The rubber strap add on towing mirrors are useless on a troopie, they vibrate far too much at any speed other than crawling.

I have a troopy and a while back bought a pair of extension mirrors from maytow in SAust. They cost an arm and a leg.

They attach to the bullbar and simply extend out to the desired width and height.

Like others I now use a camera and only occassionally look at the mirrors.

Aussie truck mirrors are the way to go,as solid as a rock. You can buy them at CAMEC if you have a pocket full of money
The only problems are the mirrors are a bit on the small side.
They are hard to fit if you have Shields on your windows.
I could not do without my camera. When reversing the Caravan SWMBO walks behind the caravan and i can see her signals as well any obstacles. Saves a lot of arguments

mate and i built our own after having seen a couple of sets while travelling up north
they mount on the bull bar and extend out and have a small truck mirror on them they attach to the b/b with exhaust brackets and have very little movement but i am also installing a camera on the van so i can see directly behind the van as it doesnt matter what yuo use there is still a blind spot
