Front shaft is still spinning which ive been told shouldn't be i am lost as to how to get this vehicle out of 4WD

thank you

I have tried reversing about 50m and nothing happened I will go and try a couple of hundred now..

Also can someone tell me the standard procedure for taking it out of 4WD.

Hi FJ
The standard procedure is to switch 4wd off, unlock hubs, and then back up a few metres.
Your switch h4 system is electric/vacum operated and you may have a faulty solenoid or something.
They are mounted high up on the firewall, 2 side by side, just near brake booster, well mine are anyway .
The vacum units are mounted on the transmission, so crawl underneath and make sure you havent knocked a hose or wire or something.
Hope this helps.

Cheers Pesty

Like Pesty said, you have a problem - either the relay that activates the system or maybe the vacuum hoses have been incorrectly connected. There was a post on this forum about 1-2 weeks ago explaining where this relay was located.

Phil,

I would have thought that if there was a vacuum problem, the lack of, the 4wd would disengage. It requires vacuum to hold it in 4wd.

Yes Wayne you're correct. But if someone connected the vacuum up so it bypassed the solenoid, then it would be on all the time. I haven't seen this done, but I'd assume that its possible.
