I have a tv aerial plug with a plug in power pack in the van, looks like a power point. I think its a booster for the tv aerial does anyone know if it works with any aerial or does it need a curtain type?

Yes, sounds like it is for the TV. Sounds like the one in my Jayco. Those work with any antenna - all signal boosters (AKA pre-amps or pre-amplifiers) do.
Mine has a
little red LED and a black button on it. You need to press the black button which turns on the red LED for the booster to actually kick in. 'Course it also has a smallish silver socket for the TV fly lead to go from the booster to the TV somewhere nearby. If you have 2 of these
TV antenna sockets use the one directly below the red LED, the one on the same plate (panel). If you have another
TV antenna socket nearby it is for an external antenna connection as supplied for in-house use by some caravan parks. The booster is not connected to this second socket.
The plate (panel) may also have a 12v cigarette lighter socket in it, or even a 2 flat pin 12v socket, which is on (powered up from the caravan battery or
park supply) all the time, not just when you press the black button. This 12v socket is for a 12v TV to plug into, so you don't have to use a separate 12v to 240v power supply for the TV (if applicable).
