Is there any difference in the engines of a 100 series T/D 2001 to current?
Were there any changes or mods?
The reason I ask is I'm in the market for something in that range...I don't want to buy say a 2002 if in 2003 there was a quantum leap in engineering!
cheers

Don't think there were any changes to the 1HD-FTE.
But if you're thinking auto, the 5speed auto came out in Oct 2002.
Later models got MP3 stereo, LED lights etc
And I'd expect the "weld" problem with the front A arms to be fixed on later models.
Redbook can fill you in on the fine detail - it lists specs for each model for each year, if you want to go looking.

Good one Phil...the 5 speed auto wasn't something I thought of...There's one at a dealer in the area I live but I think it's a four speed. That's the end of that one...!
cheers mate.

Hmmm,,,,,,,,,Leaving the Nissan fold are we Andrew??
Still, the TD 'Cruiser with 1HDT-FE in it will blow yer mind after that 2.8 Nissan.
BTW - get a manual gearbox, better in the bush - or at least
mine was.
I'll be up there around July - need to stop off in
Marble Bar to find some "fuels gold"
"Fuels Gold" ho, ho - get it? I just thought of that one!

Well...I can give you a positive maybe on that one at the moment...
I have the 3.0tdi. It's been good but warranty expires in a few months and those reliabilty issues niggle at me a bit..
I'm also looking at the new Pathfinder so I may not leave Nissan yet!

I think you will notice the 4sp Auto has a T bar gear shift lever and the 5sp has a different looking gear shift. (looks like a manual type gear stick)
Good luck.
