Hello all,
I hope someone here has the answer.
My web browser, being firefox (not interested in an IE vs MF debate) is doing some funny things to how I display the
forum, and I am supplied with a warning at the top of the
forum saying that my browser does not support the site menu.
My querie is, it was fine and 'normal' at 1650 yesterday, go away for a few hours and its changed!!! What can I do to fix it, if anything?
Cheers
Mike

Same problem here.
Firefox 1.5, was OK late yesterday, everything moved and out of order this morning.
Havn't even loaed the latest 2.x Firefox yet either.
First time I have had problems inthe 4 or so using the
forum.
Maybe I should go and do some work and stop being addicted to this site.
It might be
sign :o)
But I am not going to MS explorer 6 or 7. Billy G doesn't need more money, and Vista is a laugh.
Had a friend load Vista on a system with dual core 3.0ghz CPU with 2gb ram , and even just sitting there idling, it was using 13% of CPU. Like trying to run windows 95 on a 286 or 386 with 64k or even 128k of memory.

My Firefox was fine late last night here while at
home although it wasn't quite normal, but this morning at work my IE is displaying differently to yesterday.
It is working fine but displaying different. No probs but I usually have my background paper colour set to gray and the
forum page follows suit, but today it is quite a
bright white.
It seems David is constantly improving the display for us, but not everyone gets the intended benefits I think. At least he's trying to keep improving though. (assuming that's what it is).
White is too harsh for me to look at for long. No I won't adjust my monitor as I use it for correcting images and such.
I'll just have to use the
forum less I guess. Pity. Maybe I'll just visit while at
home.
Cheers
Cam

Cam,
I have not adjusted the background of the
forum display at all. It was always white just shows that changing some other elements can play tricks on the eyes. I am as you mentioned always working on the layout and display format. We are hacking our way through a major navigation update also.

Thanks for the reply David,
I am convinced though that on my work system here, it has been my "background" colour being gray (the middle bit NOT the sides).
My home system using firefox has been white, but on my second monitor there I have it toned done somewhat so it's not as noticeable.
I very much do notice it here though. Maybe my IE here wasn't reading the style sheet correctly.???
Not complaining, just commenting :)
Interesting though, as I type this the BG is gray for the edting window.
Cheers Cam

Ah that is a different problem - you have setup the screen background to gray is that correct?
If you have changed the background colour then I can see what is happening. I have styled to page to white background to allow me to support the grayish RHS and LHS boundary margins and hence this will go over your background.
I am not sure if I can get around that easily leave it with me.

Yes that's right.
Time is all yours...

Apparently mid-dark green is the most soothing colour to the eyes. This is horrible for a computer screen so I use the rather bland gray. It works for me as my eye strain is almost non-existant with good screens and a good contrast while using them day-in day-out for years.
Whenever I use a computer with white backgrounds, my eyes revolt and give me headaches and they take a while to adjust to the documents I am looking at while working. After a while this sucks.
It used to be in the old days of web design to assign the background to white by default (at least Microsoft did that to everything). These days the style sheets have allowed personal choice to take over.
I am not up to date with the most recent trends so I'll leave it up to your judgement.
