Hi All,

just to let you know, went to police pits and spoke with supervisor, he said "this is Australia, not Moscow", he said to remove them and just put them back when get back from touring... Also spoke with insurance company and they said wouldn;t matter but they could note in on the policy anyway...

Hope this helps someone...

I suppose this paranoia started up in Qld a year or two ago when a policeman took out his frustration on a guy who was giving him lip.

I remember at the time, the South Australian authorities rolled over laughing about it. As far as I can see, it was an incident that got a lot of publicity because of the stupidity of the application of the letter of the law, not because there was a safety issue.

WHen I bought my Prado it had the third row seats removed and cargo barrier installed. I queried about it being sold with 5 seats when it is a 7 seater and was told that because of the cargo barrier it would be illegal/unroadworthy to put the seats in again, so through it went as is and passed the roadworthy.
