Doug,
As you seem to be the man in the know.
If you hold a professional/MR, HR etc licence what is the BAC for you if you are driving a standard car/4by?
Everyone that I ask seem to have different opinions, some think it is same as a professional driver, others normal car level.
Can you shed any light???
Cheers Kev

Gawd damn it Man don't do this to me.....just sorta awoke from half sorta Nap and now I feel like Schitt,
Had to read your question about 4 times before I got the gist of it
OK in WA it is 0.2 for all Truckies , taxi's Pilot Car drivers etc when working. Qld and else where ZERO as far as I know, but if your not driving the vehicle the truck then it will be 0.5, they don't go by your licence , they go by what your driving at the time

Thats good cause even the RTA in NSW couldn't tell me.
It sounds like it was an urban myth that you had to comply with the licence type not the vehicle you are actually operating.
Cheers Kev

places ( 0.2 & 0.5 ?????).

Just like to add to the discussion,
I screwed up real bad last night, worked big hours last 3 days. I was on the highway passing a b double over double lines about midnight. I screwed up big time, I could have killed all the people in the on coming vehicle as
well as the b double driver and myself. Drink driving is bad I know, but my driving last night was at the best deadly to everyone. I am not proud of what I did last night and with the number of K's and age I am I should have known better,
Sorry to hijack the question, but lots of things kill.
Don't flog me

Gday Ape
No need for a flogging, I (like I bet most) have done the odd stupid thing. A few times I have been halfway past a roadtrain and been thinking 'what am I dooing here, and I''m pretty conservitave with my spending of time on the right hand side of the road. It is very easy to flog someone, especially those
young hooligans, for doing the wrong thing, but most of us wouldn't have to think back far to find the las silly thing they did.

Most shift workers would empathise here... I have made it 2 round-a-bouts, 4 sets of lights and made it to the top of the Westgate
Bridge and had the sudden realisation that I don't remember a single gear change let alone what colour the lights were when leaving work...

Gday Blue
used to get the same thing when I was driving haul trucks. Arrive back to the shovel, and can't remember backing up to
the tip head and tipping the last load, or crossing paths with the other 6 or so trucks on the run. Glad I don't drive them anymore, but I still have to drive Landcruisers around in amongst them. You havev to keep your wits about you then.
Cheers

NZ and the USA (to name but two countries) have a BAC of 0.08 whereas across Oz it's 0.05 - so... is driving at 0.07 a heinous, irresponsible crime putting others at risk... or not?
And compared to Jordan, zero BAC, we're pretty irresponsible allowing 0.05!

And at 0.051 am I a bigger danger than someone who hasn't slept for 24 hours?

Like most things road safety wise; it's not as simple as many would wish us to believe.
