I have just picked up a safari snorkel and intend to install it tomorrow but have come across my first problem already. The main body of the snorkel will cover most of the "patrol" badge stuck on the side but I think the "ol" will still be seen. Does this badge normally get remove and if so how? Are the letters just glued on?

I am worried if I just pull the letters off you will be able to see the marks where they were.
I don't expect to have too many problems with the rest of the installation if its anything like the GQ but any hints gratefully received

Cheers Jim

Yes mate, the badge must go, use a hair dryer to heat it up, and a plastic spatchelor to pry it off.....more heat the better and take it easy.

Cheers Wayne Good tip with the hair dryer. I was all prepared to attack it with a screw driver!

no worries, but nooooo screw drivers, even though any scratches will be covered, if you break the surface of the clear coat and paint, it may start rust underneith you new snorkel and you may not see it for ages or till its too late. But yeah, heat it till it pretty much falls of then polish off the left over stick, eucalyptus oil is good for this. Good luck.

have you ever used a hole saw to drill a huge hole in the side of your near new car before lol if not its probly worth the $100 most places charge to fit it.
we fitted a snorkel to a patrol today im pretty sure as i walked past its more of a slot than just a hole where the main hole is plus all the other smaller ones.
but if your confident have fun and use the $100 for better things like fuel to test your snorkal out
cheers

Yep I did the GQ and besides this cars nearly 3 years old. Funny a lot of people talk being scared but I am actually looking forward to it. And yes its 2x 95mm holes cut side by side so twice the fun! At $100.00 it would be cheap (arb wanted $160.00) The worst part for me is that they want the car for a whole day for a 2hr max job and it would cost me far more than that in lost production.

Cheers

Yeah I know what you mean. When I did the GQ it took bloody ages but that was fitting a airflow and it was a mongrel. The safari looks a much better unit, for starters the template is cardboard not paper!
