Hi forumites, I have Goodyear Wrangler All Weather 255/60R 18" tyres made in Germany on my Disco which has 17,000kms on the clock. This has been 90% on the bitumen 10% gravel and they need replacing!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else had experience with these tyres. I havent even had a chance to get off road yet and now have the expense off a new set of tyres before I go. I know the subject has been DONE and I have been researching but advice on a substitute would be valuable. Do you think I should complain about the originals.

I think if you want to off-road in it you should stick the 18’s in the shed with the OEM tyres still on em and fit a set of 16-inch rims with a good set of AT or MT type tyres.
If they are bugged after 17,000K's then I would ask a few questions.
Cheers.

If your disco is a Discovery 3, as suggested in your rig profile, I doubt you will be able to downsise your rim sise due to the sise of the brakes.
However there are a few 18 inch options in proper all terrain tyres starting to become available.
Cheers

Like most tyres made in europe they have a very soft compound in which they stick to the road, the Beamers and merc's only last about 30ks before replacing them. they are a very good tyre in their own country not here.
See what the other 18" disco drivers are using

Was the wear even across the tyres ? If it was I would be ringing Goodyear and wrangling a new set .
I guess it wasn't from burnouts in the Disco !

Why don't you replace those doof doof tyres with some higher profile 4wd tyres.

If it's a D3, I know there was a very unhappy and very bored Landrover driver in the
Pilbara who could not get a replacement tyre last year due to the odd-ball size.
17K on bitumen, I'd scream blue murder and go to the press.
Good luck.

The Jack came with H/T style Wranglers as
well. You did
well to get 17,000. We took the Jack off road for about 50 km. We had a blow out 10 km down the road. Pressures had been checked and were ok. The tyres did not do that
well and got fairly
well ripped up. I ended up getting less than 10,000km before I changed them to BFG A/T. We had a trip coming up and didn't want any avoidable tyre issues.
