I finally decided that I needed to service my elderly but still very functional Thomas winch. Heavy but has a lot of grunt. Stripped it down and no problems beyond a lot of grit and grime where it should not be.
Had a minor oil leak so I resealed the plate and now I need to top up the oil. So long since I did it before can't remember what type of oil to use. The stuff in it is dark pink and smells like hypoid.
Any suggestions or do I contact Thomas Winch Co in Qld? Not sure they are the same crowd as I haven't seen Thomas 4wd
winches on the market for years.
