Hi everyone,

I have a pretend 4wd (Hyundai Tucson) which has no low range. I have taken the car down to tims thicket and was very surprised at how it performed on the beach.

It was really chopped up and soft everywhere though the little bugger had no problem, although i had to keep the speed up a bit as it has no torque at all at low speeds.

Anyway enough dribble, i have been talking to friends and they have told me these cars have no rated recovery points and if i get in the shiat no one will help out as it is dangerous to hook up a snatch strap to tie down points.

I thought holy crap that stuffs my plans of beech fishing, can anyone help with this.
Is this true, would people refuse me help because of this and is there anyway around this problem.

THANX PEOPLE

go to any decent 4WD accessory shop and ask if Outback Ideas has made any recovery points for your vehicle. If not then probably no-has. You can also check ARB to see if their is a bull bar for that car that comes with or can have appropriately engineered recovery points fitted to that bar.

If not then you have a problem. But if you also have a square towing hitch fitted you can purchase a recovery point that can be inserted into the square receiver. These come fitted with a bow shackle or some form of hook device. Whilst limited to a rear recovery it is better than nothing.

With soft roaders such as yours we also strongly recommend the use of a bridle for any front recovery. This device spreads the load more evenly, with two recovery points of course, and is recommended for use with all 4WD recoveries as it is safer and generates less shock load on both vehicles.

I hope that helps

Regards

As a former Tucson owner.. yes your car does have 2 rated recovery points on the front. Get underneath and have a look.. they are there.

I had a tow bar fitted to mine and used a gadget that fitted into the tow bar receiver to take a snatch strap.

As my car came delivered with the towbar, i can't really comment is there are points at the back on a standard car.

The Tucson made a great beach runner, I have both snatched and been snatched with my recovery points with no ill effects. Ensure you carry a strap and rated shackles with you. Most people don't mind snatching you.. provded you have your own recovery gear.

Cheers

This site Hyundai User Group is frequented by people with a wealth of knowledge and experience using the Hyundai particularly the Terracan. I'm sure that you'll find someone there able to give you sound advice and a qualified opinon regarding your query.
