Hi all,
What type of 12v / battery powered fans have you got and what amount of airflow do they produce ? would you recommend them ?
Regards
Col

Colin,
bought a 200mm Lion brand [AutoOne] 12 volt fan prior to Xmas tried it and took it back -- useless - could blow harder. Approx. $40.00 from memory.
Then bought 350mm 240V bench fan [square case type] 3 speed + oscillate - $19.95 --ran it off existing inverter -- BRILLIANT
Cheers Box

Were u running the fan all night? Was the battery the inverter running from still have charge left by the morning?
Just curious for those muggy nights in a tent with no breeze about.

Colin,
We also use 240 volt fan through a 150w inverter they are far better than any 12 volt fan, the fan draws 40 watt cost $12 on special and the inverter $60.

Tent with no fly on it..
Me and cammo slept in ours at
Pink Lakes when we met up with Ray like that.. That was the only night the tent came out!
The rest of the gathering week, we slept in the box trailer on the airbed, with no sleepin bags or anything (40+ temps helped that)

We have a coleman Cool Zephyr.
It doesn't move a lot of air, but because it is magneticly attached to the tent flyscreen it is drawing cool air into the tent rather than just blowing hot air around.
I'm happy with it

What is a zepher? Does it run on inverter or 12volt?
I think the fan inverter sounds good but I hope I don't drain my battery

Dave ,
Sounds like what I'm after the fans with
inverters are ok for camper trailer but tents are a different story. Is it battery ? Does it oscillate or just blow straight ?
Thanks

it runs on 6 D cell betteries, ew got 3 nights out of a set of energisers running it for a few hours a night. Without any indication of the batteries starting to give out.
I'm sure that a 12 to 9 volt conversion could be easily done if you were to use it more often.

Collin look at thread 41875 (or search for "brushless") and follow that and the preceeding discussions through.
