Yeah it would be, the idiots tried to sell my friends one of those cheapo ones when he already had a pressure switch blue tounge and truck tank with an air manifold ready to hook the lockers up to... Man those guys are dumb sometimes, all they want to do is unack the box and fit, if it's anything harder or challenging than that they don't want to know about it. Not that it would have been hard, it would have been easier, but hey, I guess they don't know bleep from clay.

If you had both bothered to take a look at the link that Truckster posted you would see that if you buy 1 locker you get the small compressor. If you buy 2 you get the full size compressor, an inflation kit and a tyre repair kit.
Sounds pretty good to me.
Bradley you call the small compresor a cheapy, then in your sig line your looking for cheap fuel...hmmmmmm
Jeff seems you dont know tongue from tounge
I am sure if you were ARB you wouldn't want to fit a competitors product to your diff lock either.

SO SORRY for the typo..... sheesh.
They didn't have to fit a competitors product, all they had to do was plug the air line in, it was running an ARB pressure switch so the pressure was exactly the same as comming from an ARB compressor.

Geez loosen off the girth strap on your high horse champie....
As a constant advocate for quality goods and
home made if possible its not often i get called a tightarse, so thanks... dont worry im fitting lpg to the jack, but not the old venturi system, im going for sequential injection, hope thats alright by you. LOL...
Jeff - i know EXACTLY where you are coming from, i once had a discussion with arb regarding a similar situation, i was looking to fit rear locker to previous car, told them i could deliver it with a compressor already fitted (high qual/high flow unit) with a jamec 5 port manifold fed by a very high quality goyen reg. they could set the exact constant delivery pressure they wanted (unlike their set-up) . Nope it HAD to be hooked up to their compressor...... aparently it delivered some sort of magical air LOL... i left shaking my head...

Did your mate end up getting one? I installed an arb compressor myself and ARB has no problem hooking up a locker to that. Maybe the problem is the ARB compressor reservoir which has the ports ready to take the relay, it would probably be extra work for them to install the relay into a custom setup, i.e. it doesn't fit the cookie cutter. Personally i would get a diff specialist familiar with air lockers to install it anyway.

When you say relay, do you mean solinoid? If so, you can just fit the solinoid in line, I have an ARB air locker solinoid fittted inline on my bluetounge so that it can re start at any pressure and it stops the air tank leaking back througth the compressor seals.
Yeah he ended up ordering it, it took them 3 weeks to get the part in, he dropped the car off they pulled his diff apart and then realised it wouldn't fit. Then they told him that his particular model didn't have a diff locker for it.... You'd think they would have worked that out sometime before. Anyway, he's since had it back to them 3 times because his diff seals keep leaking.....
So yeah, I'd recomend a diff specalist too! ;-)

Yeah i know Ads, but arb already have a chinese compressor line dont they? is it 2 or 3 bushranger models including the max air, so why bastardise the great rep of the ARB compressors by bringing in an inferior unit and brand it the same?
Personally id offer the top spec lockers/combi with a great warranty, and the option of lockers/cheapie with standard 12 month warry..
just my opinion.
cheers Brad.

Truckster ,
Can you recommend a system that you can put in your air hose line , that tells you the pressure like the ones in the service station ? I guess it would lighter than the service station ones .
I am getting sick of taking the hose off , putting the guage on , putting the hose on................................................
Thanks ,
Willie .

Repco/autobarn/supercheap all sell them things with gauges on.. but how accurate. suppose as good as any chinese pressure gauge.
Just fit click lock type fittings same as servo on compressor and hoses.

I have a guage on the dash, but unless you turn the compressor off to
check the pressure, the pressure will not be accurate as it is effected by the compressor's own pressure. ie My guage is about 10psi out unless I turn the compressor off. The easiest way is to just use the timer on your watch. I know that about 3 mins get's me back to a decent pressure, then I just top them up when I get
home or if on a long trip at the next servo.

Willie,
If you find a good quality one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg could you let me know please. I have a twin tongue with a small tank an airlines running to front and rear bars. I would like to fit a decent guage into the system to keep an eye on the pressure.
I am also considering a rear locker.
Cheers ... Taz

Willie I have the Max Air with the inline gauge.
I have found that if you turn the compressor off it reads very accurately. I compared it to my tyre gauge and they were spot on with each other. I guess this will change as the compressor ages but for now its right.
Not sure if you can get replacement gauges for the Max Air....

Wayne ,
There is no way that I want to go and turn the compressor off to
check the gauge . It would be easier to
check the pressure with a hand gauge .
What I need is an ON/OFF trigger , like the service station air guns , but in a more lightweight design .
I will post if I find anything .
Thanks all ,
Willie .

Fair enough Willie,
Mine isn't vehicle-mounted so the compressor is right next to the tyre when inflating it. Simple matter of switching off and reading the gauge.
The garage type gauge might damage a small compressor if its left running when changing over to the next tyre and the trigger is shut off.
From my training at work where I run rather large compressors driven by 2700kpa steam turbines or 63kV Electric motors i have been taught that compressors are a positive displacement device that don't like to have their flow stopped while running.
Don't know if our small devices have pressure cutouts like garage ones, do they?
I am not comfortable depending on overpressure devices in normal operating prefer them as emergency use only....but that's just me maybe.

Wayne ,
That is a good point . I will ring ARB and ask them about the compressor .
Look at the one I found here www.air-up.com/products.html
It looks perfect if it is OK to use it on the compressor .
Thanks ,
Willie .

Shoelace=
Forum folklore, one has been heard to say of the great shoelace thread that it is a figment of the imagination of the "oldies" of the
forum, so steeped in mysticism and hearsay that it was cooked up to promote 3.0L Patrols. Upon mentioning that an audible inhalation of air was experienced. Awe followed, along with a small puppy.
