GU Radiator Fault

Last weekend I was about to leave for Darwin and checked my vehicle. I found that my radiator was leaking.

When I removed the radiator I found that there are two lugs on the cowling. They had worn holes in the radiator.

I took the radiator to Darwin and spoke to a Natrad gentleman there who informed me that it is a common problem. His advice was to cut off the offending lugs.

For me it was an expensive and time consuming way of discovering this fault. I have submitted this post so that others may not have similar or more serious problems due to this fault.

Was advised of the same fault. Had the radiator flushed etc last year and whilst it was out the blokes removed the 2 lugs (Red Devil Radiators). They advised me that the radiator becoming blocked, and the lugs wearing holes in the core where both (almost) normal on the Patrols. Haven't had any radiator issue since

Had mine done as part of a factory 'fix'.

I hope they didn't charge you $1,000 to modify the fan cowling.

It cost me $615 for a new radiator and fitting.

I did the modification to the fan cowling in 5 seconds with a stanley knife.

I don't know where you had the work done but you it sounds like you were overcharged.

They are situated on the cowling on the inside near the fan. All you need do is cut them off with a stanley knife.

Cheers
