I am looking at buying a second hand set of 33" x 12.5 15BFG Muddies on 15x 8 Sunraysia's and have tried them on and fit ok just may look at rubbing when on full lock on the rear mudflap and was thinking I may have to do a lift to keep clear! I am looking for any advice from you guys as a newbie so be kind!

G'day ChuckyGU,

Check brake clearance, this is the main reason for moving to 16" rims.

If you do have some rubbing a 2" lift will sort that out as well.

Most common tyre size used on GU other than 265/70X16 is 265/75 X 16", (which corrects speedo error), or the larger 285/75 x16".

Remember that lifts and bigger wheels will reduce fuel economy and may mean using a lower gear than normal as well. The 2.8 is "adequate" for the weight of the GU, certainly no powerhouse

Hi Chucky,
You just need a basic 2" lift, which in reality will most likely only lift your vehicle about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches.
This "lift" consists of 4 springs and 4 shockies, you can forego the shockies till a later date if you wish, though you will not gain any extra wheel travel as the aftermarket shocks are a little longer when at full stretch.
I was quoted $700 for a full set of 4 X springs and 4 X shocks ( EFI brand ) for a GU. from Ace Tyres in Hemmant ( brisbane ).
Not sure on fitting costs, as I do mine myself, it's not that hard.
With only a 2" lift you most likely won't need caster correction bushes, adj. panards or anything else the big companies try to sell you and 15 inch rims fit fine on a GU.
Not sure where you are, but if your in brisbane let me know, I'll give you a hand to put them in if you do decide to buy some.

Avagoodn
