Wow haven't seeen a map of Tassie like that in years, I think it may need a Brazillian to get rid of all the "old Growth Forest" clearly visible...

G'day mate,
pleased to hear you rescued it. something terribly wrong about a map of Austraila (and especially a beauty like that one) getting chucked. bit like letting the flag touch the ground.
i have heaps but my favourite is a large 1.5 x 1.0m (roughly) 3D relif map. It is mounted on the kitchen wall above our family table. Always great to refer to for trip planning or "this is where so and so lives". It is also in colour and the 3D is great for kids and all to appreciate the topography of Australia and how the rivers flow depending on which side of the mountains the rain falls.
i have another smaller one for a mouse pad from Australian Geographic.
cheers.

I've got a laminated one of the Australian Geographic
Explorers and Dreamers maps on the wall with most of our trips over the last thirty years penned in. Still plenty of gaps to fill in ;-))

Here is my chance to big note myself.
The walls of the family room have seven maps of australia framed and hung with pride. I collect old maps & now have a full set of 1800
John Tallis australian maps. If I had saved the money I would have been able to buty a real 4x4.
Love all maps.
The man that introduced me to maps was the same person who got Len Bedall interested. My very old scout master Mr Robertson. (1961) from Burwood NSW. He was in his late eighties and used to take us to the local park & carry out surveys using a compass, chain, plumbob & protractor. Still have a 1: 500 map of Caberita Park at
home.

I considered doing a feature wall in my bedroom when in Kal of 250k maps spreading from
Menzies to
Esperance and from southen Cross to the Victoria desert.
Still might one day. would be alot of work with trimming as the maps overlap

Here is my map. It's not on a wall just rolled up. Plenty of gaps in it that need filling.
