Hi Gang.. have a friend coming out from Germany next week and wanted to take them to the Noosa North Shore and up
the beach in the 'Rover. Tide is going to be high around 1:30 PM.. any people out there with any experience of this beach at high tide? I haven't been there for years.
Cheers

Three hours each side of low is best. Top of beach is soft so will be heavy going outside of this time range. High tide at 1.30 couldn't be worse for a day out. What day next week? Don't forget the correction for that beach, negative 1h 30 mins. Monday high tide is 9.18 am so you could get there by midday and have the whole afternoon.

I have had a fair bit of experience in that area... At high tide you will not have much beach to drive on but you will still be able to reach your destination.. it will just be a bit harder going and you will definitely have to let your tyres down.. general pressure for that type of driving I would suggest around 18psi...
As far as the spit goes at North Shore itself you will still have some sand to lay around on etc but again not much driving room on
the beach... try to avoid driving on the vegetaion though and you will probably find there are a number of tracks you could follow anyway..
I find that after about 1 1/2 hours after high tide you will have plenty of sand to drive on and by the time it is dead low tide it is almost as good as a suburban road..
You can use this link to the tide time predictor anywhere around here if you like..
Site Link
Further down
the beach you will find that the
Cherry Venture ship is currently being removed from
the beach so that area is sectioned off... the dumpy trucks are also using the freshwater track to haul the steel away and apparently it can take them hours to get through so have advised anyone travelling up to
Rainbow etc to take the highway.. you will have to feel that out for yourself though when you are there as they will only let cars go past the site for an hour each side of low tide..
Enjoy your drive.. I hope the weather holds out for you as it has rained for the better part of a week here so far.... can't wait to get back up
the beach myself..
Cheers
