sandover or plenty hwys

which is harder the sandover hwy or the plenty hwy in nt
i am planning a trip to ayres rock or uluru as they call it now and i wanted to go on one of these hwys on the way out there but i dont know which one would be the right one to take as i will be travelling alone

Where are you travelling from?

Have you looked at the map?

They are both pretty similar condition as far as I am aware with the NT side in reasonable condition and the Qld side (to Boulia) reasonably undeveloped.

But best to consult the road conditions reports for up to date info.

AFAIK there are fewer facilities on the Sandover.

The Sandover is more remote. The Plenty has more traffic if you're worried about support. Lots of corrugations though ;-(

In a nut shell Id say the Plenty is a better road..........?????? Sorta go in different directions though??? Better for what? Im not really sure of your Question.

i am going to uluru from brisbane so i wanted to know which of the two hwys are better to travel on but also what is to see on them and which is the safer bet.

when are you going across, we are going in june in a new nissan D40 MAN so i was interrested to read your fuel consumption report, ill be towing a camper trailer, we are just a little south east of bris . we plan to do birdsville track oodnadatta track, strezleckie track ayres rock, alice springs ect.im still waiting for my nissan its a long wait. or so it seems the end of march if were lucky.

i am planning the trip in june -july 2008
i am currently fitting out my gqpatrol this year for the trip
i think the only trip i will do this year is to the dig tree maybe
