Has anyone heard what the new patrol's power, torque and transmission spects are?

I am looking for a new Patrol and saw an Nissan to dealer memo last week outlining that the new Patrol would be a common rail. It will be a the current GU with new motor and available for sale on April 1.

What was made clear was that the 4.2 is dropped ( as outlined elsewhere on this and other forums) and that the 3.0 will be replaced with a new common rail. All in the interests of Euro 4 which came in place here on Jan 1. All 2007 compliance plate vehicles will be this spec.

What was not stated though is what the CRD will be or it's specs. The dealer said that he thought that it was the ZD30 with Commn Rail and slightly higher torque and 2 -3kw *less* power ( is that possible?). I guess other options could be the 2.5 CRD but I could not stomach a 2.5 in a patrol, even if it has more power and torque than the 3 L today.

Other ( whishful thinking ) possibilities I have heard are a 3.8l ( 6 cyl version of the 2.5) or a 4.2 L CRD. He said that Nissan won't give a hint. Also a search of overseas we sites does not give a clue. ( though interesting that in the UK a rear diff lock is standard on all models, in the Middle East the 4.2 is mated with the 5 speed Auto, and in all markets but Australia the seat belts are pre-tensioning. Lots more airbags everywhere too. Best of all is a center console fridge in Middle east.)

You would think that Nissan will pull something out of a hat given the arrival of the new Landcruiser but history doesn't bode well.

A 135 - 140kw+ crd with the 5 speed auto would be wonderful.

Any inside info?

Is there an omen there?

No. Fitness guru Richard Simmons resigned from his developement role at Nissan powerplants to concentrate further on steam bath design.

I'd be buying a few GU 4.2's and storing them. Don't even licence them. A bloke did that in WA with the Ford 7.3 F250's and recently sold one for a tidy profit. Supply and demand.

While a slightly better 3.0 CRD seems on top of the rumor list , its worth noting that when the 4.2 had its last upgrade in 2003 I think , that despite lots of rumours no one got it right and I believe I posted the first correct weight.

I got it by reading 4wd monthly magazine because I just happened to be at home when the mag was delivered.

Hmmm,,,,,,,none of those engine options really impress me. Another 3.0 litre, 4 cylinder motor is not on for me. I don't care if they call it CRD or CDR or CDRW,,,,,

Nissan, after 20 years of worship at your altar - you've lost me I'm afraid.
