Most of us pay a few dollars a drum of good oil. Free oil could have a lot of fat in it, which needs a bit of extra work to make useful. But, yes - all other things being equal it's 1000 litres of free fuel. What it is not is biodiesel.

Biodiesel is a result of several chemical reactions by adding stuff to this sort of oil as a base.
WVO, Waste Vegetable Oil, is a usable fuel without turning it into anything else - but needs filtering and vehicle mods to ensure proper combustion.

I'm in WA, but if I was in Vic, I'd pick it up in a flash.

Making biod is easy,,,,,,and cheap.

Used cooking oil is getting very hard to get hold of.

My neighbor down the back has an old 80s something L/C...he goes around the local fish n chip shops and collects the used oil ...free....filters it about 3-4 times and uses it straight into the car....has been to W.A. a couple of times on it and drives just about everywhere using it , laughing his head off he is...has to warm on deisal first for about 10km then switches over to 100lt tank he has in the back...cheap motoring he reckons...cheers
