I promised a report on the rear carrier debacle so here it is. After trying valiently to remove the insides with a large sledgehammer etc, I finally found a place that would do it for me. They took it off and said come back later. Yes, new bearings. BUT the sleeve is a hollow bit of metal, not good engineering. (Its a well known brand ) They ran up a new sleeve out of solid, replaced bearings and re installed the carrier. The carrier is now rock solid, and I doubt if any corregations are going to worry it, time will tell. $135.
I am one happy camper. Left to my own devices, I would still be trying to pull it apart, and probably have spent almost that buying extra tools :))
Sometimes it pays to do your own stuff, but it also pays if you know when to take it into the experts.
So, off to rat city tomorrow. Tonight son looks at a front tyre and says its flat ! I put air in it this afternoon ! Oh no. I check and he's right. I can feel another saga coming on. Wonder what number 3 will be ?

John, I'd rather a flat battery than a flat tyre. With a weekend trip coming up all the tyre places will be closed, but I have 2 batteries :))))

F'loosie, I think you have it there. Two batteries will finalise it. The four problems ;-)))))) No more for a while after that.

An old farmer once said to me.

Life hasn't been too bad, most of my worries never became problems.

Take one day at time, do what you can that day. Tomorrow will sort itself out.
