Hello everybody,
We purchased a 2003 Landruiser 100series about 18 months ago and it had Speedy Wheels alloy rims already on it. We've enjoyed trips to Kalumbaru,
Port Smith, and many national parks in the south west with this vehicle, often towing a
Kimberley Kamper.
After its regular service, it was noticed that there were some cracks in some of the spokes, one wheel looked serious.
I will be taking the car for inspection by a Speedy Wheels rep next week to see if it may be a manufacturing fault.
I was just wondering if any body else has experienced a similar problem?

It is worrying. The mechanic who regularly
services this vehicle was surprised the wheel hadn't disintegrated! He's swapped the woest one with the spare, but he's shown me hairline cracks in the same spot on 2 other wheels. Maybe it's a faulty batch....

Hello ,
I use to do a bit of speedway racing
We used alloy wheels we use to smash into each other and break the rim of the alloy wheels sometimes but never had any trouble with the spokes.8 years of bashing around and never seen a spoke let go or crack before the rest of the wheel let go.
I can not see how it could be your fault ???
Cheers Jeff (SA)

As long as the GVM of the vehicle doesn't exceed the load carrying capacity of the rim and the rim is designed to be fitted to your vehicle with the correct offset etc then you should have a legit claim.
The big problem might be that you are not the original owner so warranty may not carry over.

I know who fitted them originally and they've invited me to bring the vehicle to them and get the rep in. I'm assuming a lifetime warranty means the lifetime of the wheel if they're still on the same vehicle. I love my optimism sometimes!

I had one on my 80 series a few years ago crack right through a spoke right where it attached to the outer rim. Only noticed when I was washing the vehicle. Couldn't get waranty on the rim as it was more than 3 years old $210 to replace it. I think it was a delta rim and had 5 spokes. It hadn't been hit or struck but did a lot of commercial 4wd tours in some nasty
places.
Good luck
Tour Boy

Hmmmm, I'm really hoping the warranty will cover replacement. Our off road driving has not been extreme. The last trip was in D'Entrecasteaux national park which is predominantly sand tracks with a couple of gnarly hills as you head for the coastline.

Had an 01 GU and two of the steel rims had cracked spokes. Took it back to Nissan & they 5 new heavy duty (type the cops use) rims up from Melb in two days. Never seen them move so fast.
I believe a cracked rim would be an issue outside of warranty and more of a suitable design for what the car is being used for, 4wd.
Cheers

Gosh, that's awful! Certainly, the worst wheel has been replaced with the spare. The other 2 are hairline cracks. I was hoping to hear back from the wheel rep today, but so far no reply.
