Met Wisey , Kev and Ian there , but saw no other members , although they may have been there .

One gent on a stand said that prices were lower down there than at Sydney shows , because of lower site charges . He was paying $1000 at Kembla Grange and at Rosehill he pays $9000 .

I bought a neat water purifier that has two cylinders - one precleaner to get the dirt out and the final one to remove giardia etc . He was an interesting guy who puts them together at his factory in Fivedock , Sydney . He told me that none of the purifiers take out viruses which are often in water , so that the trick was to treat the water first with Puratabs then run it through the two cylinders . This removed the Puratab taste and left you with perfect drinking water . He had lots of different types of filter inserts which he sold to you , according to the type of water you would be putting through .

I asked him " Ok , so I'm in the Pilbara and I have run out of water . There is a bore in a paddock , but no way to access the water but out of the cattle trough . Can I just put that water through these two filters and drink it " That's when he told me about the Puratab system . With that system , you could drink the water and it would be safe and taste good .

The unit comes in a backpack with spare filters . I am not going to locate it under the bonnet , but run it through my shower pump hook up , when I need to . Hopefully , that will not be too often .

Wisey and I also got talked into buying a " Magic BBQ Sheet "for $20 a throw ! . It is about double the thickness of a garbage bag and you lay it on your BBQ plate to stop muck sticking to it when you doing marinated thingies . It is non stick and can be " re-used again and again". It will be interesting to test it out . We may end up with " Chops a la Plastique ".

It took us a while to get around the show , because Wisey took a deep interest in any product being sold by a pretty girl .

Cheers ,

Willie .

Willie,

I dodged the BBQ plate stand but SWMBO grabbed a brochure with all the prices on them, only just found it in one of the bags.

I bought an AT35 locking pin for the trailer, I had asked on here a few months ago when I had just pick up my trailer, but had no results from it. It came from the Permatrim stand. I had spoken to him in previous shows there when I work on one of the displays. But did not realise that he had designed one for the AT35, I thought it was just for the Treg.

I take it that you and Wisey decided that the table was to small to clean your whales on. LOL I bet that if the blonde tried the hard sell though Wisey would have spent in money on it.

I contemplated the water purifier but could not justify it at this stage. As we don't have an issue with carrying water in the trailer (up to 10x20l jerry's if required).

Something else that interested me was the Honda generator stand. He was selling the Eu20 for $1900 plus the $200 factory cash back. I found this interesting and he couldn't confirm it but according to the brochures he was distributing the factory cash back expired on the 30th of Dec 06. He couldn't provide any form of evidence that the cash back had been extended. Oh well maybe I'll get one at Rosehill in April.

Also in attendance was Tony the AJ, and a mysterious bloke with the blue and white Explore Oz Polo shirt and cap.

There is a few Explore Oz bumper stickers stuck to a few places around the show site as well as nearly all the business cards and windscreen stickers given out. Most people had not heard of Explore Oz so hopefully we will have a few more people addicted.

Hope you all enjoyed the day, the temp ended up a bit warm but other than that it was a great day.
Look forward to meeting up with you all again in the not to distant future.

Cheers Kev

Yeah Kev, that would be me in all the EO finery, met Tony at the food stand.

Got to the show at 9.30am bought a Chilly Box & a new Hi lift jack, took these to the car at 10.55 & came back in at 11.05 & didn't see anyone so continued shopping.

Went & bought a Magnum hand winch from ARB, asked the bloke behind the counter if the box had everything in it, he answered yes all in the box, got home, opened the winch box & guess what?? no winch cable or handle, so back tomorrow to retrieve the missing bits.

Sorry to miss you all, but couldn't hang around, had shopping to do....

I think we all saw you walk in and veer off in another direction. We all were at the site office caravan from about 10.50 to 11.30.
I hope that they (ARB) refund you the entry fee for having to return to retrieve missing bits from the Magnum hand winch. I be pretty bleep off that it wasn't all there after I had asked as to it all being there. I found that they were not very helpful for product info.

Cheers Kev

Kev,
Went back down today to retrieve the missing bits from the winch, didn't have to pay to get in & no problems with ARB. (got a couple of free hats for my trouble).
They actually realised that I didn't have all the bits when I left & paged me to come back, but by that time we'd already left the site!!

Stopped off at the beach & had a beer at Headlands pub on the (long) way home.

Talked to the BIL just now & he wasn't really impressed with the service from some of the ARB guys either! Seems that they are a bit full of themselves because they work for a 4WD parts shop??

Good to meet you Willie and catch up with Kev, thanks for organising.

I have a wish list just like many blokes and there are some widgets/toys also on the list along with some 4wding accessories. I' nearly bought some of that Tupperware LOL.

Thinking of you Kev for the Op this week hoping it's very successful.

Regards
Andy

Andy,

The trouble with the tupperware is that you have to buy a whole set and not all of them fit in the required space of the Engel.
