Hi Guys,

Any experience (anecdotal or otherwise) with the new diesel in the 2007 Prado? Claimed power and torque seems a big improvement over the old engine, I was wondering if anyone has had a drive/bought one yet.

Cheers,

Matt.

G/Day Matt M , took delivery of GX D4D Auto 10 days ago ,500 kys on speedo still between half & 3/4 on fuel gauge, plenty of get up & go ,accelerates like a petrol, very low cab noises, at a 100kys doing 1800 rpm, smooth ride ,the only thing I have found that driving around town it will change up to 5th at about 60kys,& tends to labour giving roughness through the steering, selecting D4 elimates the problem. Going from a hilux 99 model it is a big change, could not get the other half to drive the hilux can not get her out of the Prado .Friar

Thanks Friar. We have never met and now I officially hate you. If the 5th gear thing gets too much for you, I would take the vehicle off your hands for a reasonable price.

Hope it goes well for you.

Matt.

If your fuel guage reads between 1/2 and 3/4 it means that you have used more that 1/2 of the first fuel tank which contains more than 1/2 (95 litres) of the original whole 180 litres (split 95/85) because when the guage first shows just less than 1/2 it means all of the first tank has been used and then when it switches to the second tank which it does automatically as there is no manual switch to change tanks the fuel guage then goes to full again which means that you have less than 1/2 of your original 180 litres i.e you now have about 85 litres left less whatever the reserve in the second tank is that doesn't show on the fuel guage and a little orange light goes on to tell you this so when the guage next says 1/2 it means 1/2 this time which means that you have about 1/2 of the second tank left which is less than 1/4 or the original 180 litres which means that at this stage as your guage is showing between 1/2 and 3/4 and it is first time around 3/4 really means 1/2 of the first tank has been used so you have probably used between 50 and 60 litres for the 500km which means you have used 10+ litres per 100km at the moment. Maybe more. Easy eh?
