hi readers.i have a 06 patrol trayback with aircon that has not worked since new.i have had the vehicle back to dealer that i purchased it new from 5 times and another dealer once.getting extremelly frustrating when you need your car everyday.the aircon works below 80klm/ph but as soon as you go over 80 it cuts out no matter what gear you are in or what rpm, outside temp etc.it will not go back on untill you drop below 80.nissan have changed 5 different components so far,and now after a heap of other tests they have done via email to nissan australia, they just are at a loss as to whats wrong.i have told them i want the whole damm lot changed as they have never encountered this prob before and cant fix it but anyone whos dealt with nissan warranty, will understand how far im getting with that.I am now going to find a private aircon specialist and just pay for it but any info i could get would be extremelly helpfull.im sure you readers can imagine what its like in a ute with a hot and sweaty and grumpy wife on long trips.thanks

Hi Promac,
I understand your frustration. I'd be wary tho, of taking it to a private aircon place without Nissan's consent, as you may find them rejecting any further warranty claims in this regard. Your contract is with Nissan, and going outside this arrangement could give them a legal "out". As an example, a friend recently had a private phone contractor fix his lead-in cable after Optus had stuffed him around for nearly 2 weeks with no service, and now Optus won't accept any liability.
If all correspondence with Nissan in
Melbourne have ended up in a dead end, I'd be inclined to ring a TV station and ask them if they want a good story. Let Nissan know what you intend doing. Should get a better response then. The Australian newspaper has a weekly column (Wed I think) where the journo bags problem vehicles, mainly to do with service problems and invites comment.
Have you contacted Val Davis at Nissan Aust? I recall the email is cdetails@nissan.com.dau
good luck
Gerry

As frustrating as it is, they no doubt want it fixed too. If you need to go private (and remember they don't always have the answers either) you should ring consumer affairs first and explain to them. You may be able to then request a refund from Nissan for what it cost to repair, although this usually only applies in areas where the nearest dealer is considered to far away.
Have you tried for a loan car so they can have your vehicle for a few days to try and sort out. Perhaps through the week while your at work and don't need the 4x4?

Ask then to take it to an out side air con specialist, we do work for many dealerships and have greater knowledge then there mechanics do.
This could be a engine managerment issue were by the watch dog curcuit in the computer is either detecting something wrong with the vehicle, a faulty sensor or a faulty ecu.
This fault sound like a speed related input problem, may be a speed sensor or ecu thinking you are doing over 150Kph, many vehicles have a speed cut out watch dog curcuit in them but in most cases the owner of the vehicle is very unlikely to find them.
There are many thing not directly associated with the air con that may be causing it.
We see it so many times were by the people doing the work do not look out side the square.
I hope this may help you.
