Couple of years ago I asked a similar question to that detailed below. Unfortunately no body could help at the time.
I'm looking for a town or property called Sandilands (Sandylands?) in SA. We worked there back in the late 50's and early 60's. My memory is not particularly good, so bear with me.
It was in the wheat belt (with some cattle) country. We were "
rock picking" at the time. I remember the old man making reference to work on
Kangaroo Island, so I'm assuming it could be some where at the Southern end of SA.
The owner of the property was a fella called Gerzts (or similar German name).
The reason I'm asking this is because I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for his quick thinking. I'd like to track the family down to say thanks.
We also lost a good mate who was crushed by a Bull in the stock yard and I'd like to visit his grave.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated
Regards
Kim

Hi Kim
Found reference to Sandilands on Google first go. Type in Sandilands South Australia and you will find a Family Page there for RJ Thomson. Looks like Sandilands is in the Maitland/Yorketown area on the
Yorke Peninsula. The person referred to living there is Ernest August Launer
Cheers

Willem
Thank you very much for your help. I'll contact the Thomson family if their still around.
This will mean a lot to my daughter. We moved around a lot in those years and I only have vague memories to pass onto her.
Regards
Kim

Kim, there is also a location called
Sandlewood which is about 30k's East of
Karoonda in the mallee of SA. Lots of
Limestone there where
rock picking was practiced years ago.
