got a set of ironman foam cell shockies sent out for the front of my gq.
now most shockies i have had a bit to do with come contained so they dont extend out but these one are closed right up and nothing holding them. i can pull them apart and they just stay there. anyone got any ideas.

This is normal, they dampen the shock in both directions

You are thinking of the gas filled type that are always entended

I have pedder foam cell fitted they give far better handeling than gas filled shocks, you'll be happy with them

I would love to know how a foam cell shocker gives better handling than a gas filled shocker, pedder 4x4 shocks are very poor quality.

My Guess would be as they dampen buy moving/ working with the spring rate rather than working against the spring movement to dampen, as a gas shock would do, so it would also generate less heat than a gas shock would.

Thats how it reads in my mind anyway.

Cheers

Gas and Foam are completly different, gas are always extended. if you compress them they will extend by itself where as foam don't, foam will only compress or extend when you move it

Foam give better handeling when cornering

As for you suggesting that Pedders Shocks are of poor Quality, i have not had any problems with them. i know a few other people who use them and are off road in the Victorian High Country Every 2 to 3 weeks and have not had a problem either.

Like almost Everything these days pedders shocks are probably made in the same factory as many other well know brands and have a different sticker and colour painted on them

What i do know is that the springs are not the best of quality !

ok, it will take 2 people to pull them apart the first time, just twist them slightly and they will come apart ok. Make sure the movement isnt notchi as this could indicate a issue . Only gas shocks come apart on there own as stated above
