Hi
We visited the Adelaide caravan show today and are very interested in the 18 foot dual axle van - " Lifestyle" L545. Would anybody like to comment before I put a deposit down this weekend. Thanks Geoff

Hi Rolande
The van is for bitumen only and a few graded gravel roads. It is a huge expense for us and from what I see it looks value for money but I would value the opion of people who know Geoff

G'Day Geoff an Di,

Only asking because we just purchased a Coromal off-road, so I can tell you what one looks like after 6 years on the road.

1/ Wavy roof problem, which I have seen mentioned before. doesn't seem to bother the van, just looks average

2/ Front plastic cover for front window, both arms to hold these up broken off, as well as the brackets

3/ Most of the gas struts have little or no gas left.

Other than that the interior looks like a new van and the outside looks very good as well. Considering the age, the fact it had been towed around by grey nomads and was off-road I think the van has stood up very well, certainly well enough for us to hand over the precious dollars to pay for it.

Wish the van we have would be $37K new, might have stretched the budget further and purchased a new one, was quoted $58K for a new version of ours at a 4WD show last week-end

Hope this helps

Rolande

G-Day

Geoff & Di

We purchased a new 6 metre York Procyon tandem axle with A/C, Toilet,Shower,
150 litre Fridge ,Wyngard Aerial,Roll out awning, full electronics re: cd,radio, dvd,
quality finish all round, 150mm galvanised draw bar. $43000-00

We looked at three Coromal dealerships in south east QLD,( NOTE) very nice
vans, well made ect, but basic price, all extras added on.

From memory we looked at a Coromal 635 for $45000-00 with out. A/C,
Wyngard Aerial. like every thing you must shop around, and play one dealer
up against the other.

Cheers

Daza

Geoff and Di,

I have friends with a Coromal "Lifestyle" van and after an extended trip report no real issues with it.

I have a Coromal Capri 535 Pioneer XC and have no problems with it.

Regards,
Jim!MPG:3!

Geoff, I am on my second new Coromal an to be quite frank with you after laying out $48000 on a 535 Capri in 2004 the problems that I have encounted
I would strongly Reccomend you to look ELSEWHERE mine has cost me much in Repairs as the dealers only made many problems worse and had to spend Nearly $1000 to get the wheels aligned correctly as they were scrubbing out tyres and Coromal did not want a bar of it I have a computer laser print out of this to verify my statement.
VERY POORLY BUILT in my opion and too much money for what you get.So go look elsewhere as once you pay them they dont want to know you anymore my experence. Love to tell you more but I would run out of space. As mine was in for repairs more often than I used it.

you've made me shudder!!! what have I done, Ihave only laid down a deposit but I don't think I have had a van yet that hasn't kept me busy at some time between trips -a lot of it my doing with add ons. The van will cost me $36,500 with the extras and yes for me it's a lot of money. Sounds like I will need to be vigilant from day 1 geoff

I just went through a couple month process of comparison and review of different brands. If you have done your homework you will know that there are sort of three levels of brand. Firstly, the cheaper mass produced, secondly the middle not too bad and the third - the top of the line. Where do you put Coromal ?? I personally think they are on the higher side of the first category. I know a couple people who are not terribly happy with them. But I suspect there are plenty who are.

I bought Kedron.

Hi Geoff - we have a Coromal Corvair 511 offroad (Pioneer). Love it.
This is a single axle.
We bought 2nd hand, so any teething problems were no doubt ironed out by the first owner.
Some minor items needed attention - extra support under seat frame; heavier 12V wiring to fridge - that sort of thing - but on the whole it is certainly everything we want and expect. Paid $30K (New aprox $40).
Would we buy Coromal again - definitely - but probably second hand again.

thanks for taking the time to reply - had had a few good responses and a number of critical comments. Guess I'm in the fire and have placed a deposit,-I've had Jayco,Millard and Viscount over the years all second hand and they all had their faults and good points .I've repaired doors and frames, fixed seats as you have ,scrubbed tyres and always added extras to make comfortable and suit what you need or think you need. This will be my first new van and will see me out (I Hope). Once it's had it's first trip it will also be second hand. Once again thanks Geoff

Geoff

I'm sure you will be pleased with your coromal van 2007. I just bought a Coromal pioneer corvair 511. My mate has been around Australia twice with the same van only it's about six years older than mine. He has only had little things go wrong with it the biggest problem he had was the front door lock desinegrated and it doe's seem like someone else said in this thread about their after sales service its pretty poor as I have already learned first hand as I ordered this lock for my mates van from the dealer I bought my van from & I have only heard excuse after excuse why it has not come in yet. Its been three weeks now. I will try and fix any of my van teething problems myself as I think I will do a better job. I have already started the overflow pipe on the air conditioner was not sealing properly so water was dripping on the bench top. I ripped a bit of skin of both my hands fixing this one trying to work in a small space with big hands doe's cause a problem some times anyway I simply put a hose clamp over the hose conected to the back of the aircon so now problem fixed.
