Hoping someone can help! What is the roof load capacity of a 2005 Challenger? My car manual refers to a page that is suppose to have the info on it, but doesn't. My local Mitsubishi dealer thinks it is 60 kg, but isn't sure. I have got a quote on a Rhino roof rack kit that is a max of 80 kg, which is fine, but I need to know the weight the challenger is suppose to be able to take without me voiding my warranty. Thanks!

What sort of warranty claim did you have in mind?
If 60kg - after all, it is not going to be much more than that, what could really go wrong?

Is this with the roof rails? Thule list the max load as 100kg, rola seem to be around 80kg (for the ones they list the weight limit for). If it is without the bars (ie. attaches to the lugs in the roof channel) these are only rated to 50kg (I have been told). I used to have a set of Thules that attached to the lugs and the roof pad sat inside the channel. Over time, this created depressions in the roof. I got these taken out with some other repair work and then replaced the racks with ones (also thule) that attaches under the door and the foot pad sits outside the channel onthe curved secton of roof. THese were rated at 75kg. Rola had ones that attach to the factory lugs and sat actually in the roof channel. However in this case they were rated to 80kg. So who knows. I would go by the numbers of the roof rack that you can buy - should be right. Any warranty problems will only be if the roof rack comes off (not a nice thought!). In this case, i woul guess you would take it up ith the RR manufacturer not Mitsubishi (unless Mitsubishi sold them to your)

Hope all this is of some help.

Tim

Good advice Tim, thanks!!! No I don't have the roof rails. I looked at the Rhino Racks yesterday and was recommended to have tracks riveted along where the roof rails would usually be and then have the cross supports from there. It was rated to 80 kg. I will look into Thule and some other options. I was hoping to carry my tinnie (60 kg) on top of the Mitsi as am towing a pop top now. Thanks again!

I have a challanger also, and recieved the same info from OL. No more than 60kgs on the tracks provided. What was suggested was having additional tracks that could take the extra weight required
