Hi All,

Have one of those rear door HF antenna mounts for the 2003 GU Patrol and find that when fitted it rests hard against rear door.
Just wondering has anybody fitted one to a late model Patrol, if so did you have to use spacers between rear tyre carrier and HF antenna bracket ?
If I use spacers the spare tyre is forced hard against mount which still forces it against the rear door.
Any help is most appreciated. Thank You.

Hi,
It definitely needs spacers for the GU IV, there should be no difference in the clearance to the spare wheel if you fit them right.

Hi Again,
You will also need longer bolts.
The spacers go under the wheel holder bracket, so the wheel and the antenna mount are further from the door. The spacing between the antenna bracket and wheel does not change.

Hi,

Ok now with it, remove wheel holder at top, fit spacers and replace holder and antenna mount.
The wheel holder is very hard to remove on my door!

What is the thickness of spacers?
Thank You for your help. P&J

They are 10mm. You have to remove the holder and fit 4, and as I said, you will need longer bolts too.

Hi,

I have fitted an antenna mount from Australian 4WD Storage and Accessories at Salisbury SA and it certainly needs the spacer at the top as shown in the instructions. The tyre is meant to touch the antenna mount, but there should about 7mm clearance to the door.

I used a strip of rubber against the door to prevent paint damage.

I have a GU IV

Good luck

Hi anglepole,

I purchased myn 2nd hand with no spacers or instructions. I was thinking of some rubber to the mount as you have done.

I would love to get copy of fitting instructions.
Do you have some way I can contact you please for possibly a copy.

Thanks P&J
