Some how, i have hit a tree and damaged the roof AC unit on my caravnan. From the inside the van there appears to be no damage but from the outside the front is pushed in significantly.

What are the chances that the cover only is damaged? What is the rough cost of a new cover? I presume you cna not walk on the roof of a caravan, is that correct?

How do I get the top cover off if this is the case?

Thanks in advance.

Use a ladder & put a plank or two across roof from one side to other. I use 200 x 50 tread pine retainer wall slab come in 2.4 & 3 metre lengths from say Bunnings. Now you can climb onto roof & inspect damage .Insurance should cover it if is bad damage.

And to be really pedantic - grab the instruction manual and read carefully before putting the planks across - otherwise the retaining screws will be at the other end!

If you never received a manual, and have looked all over for it, try this site " target="EOF" class="lbg">www.dometic.com/default.aspx?id=3

Should give you a chance to see what you are looking for. Good luck

What bad luck. When it is repaired, check the roof for leaks. Hope it is a simple job and doesn't cost too much.

Andrew,
Under the plastic cover is another metal cover, same shape and neither are hard to get off. Had mine off to clean dust out of the fins.

Chance thats all thats wrong, especially if the aircon is still working.

Good luck and don't fall off the roof ;-)
