What about the Bore Track? Its an easy run and quite interesting inasmuch that you have to guess which wheel tracks to follow every now and then.

Cheers

Hi Truk. (Lagoon?? Great dive site!)

I Crossed over into Qld from Innaminka & turned RIGHT, instead of left to the B&W bridge, a few years ago & this eventually brought me out at Tibooburra.

Not sure if you can get to Cameron Cnr this way though!

Hi Truk

I've been down that way and you can make your way to Cameron's Corner. Have a look at the Great Desert Track maps it is well marked. Makes for something different if you have been the other way a couple of times.

Am I geographically challenged? Where are you coming from. If coming from the south/west, a left hand turn after Innamincka on the QLD side of the border surely takes you north. If coming from the east, turning let after Innamincka won't put you on the QLD side of the border. If coming from north a left hand turn after Innamincka uts you on the right side of th border, but which track? I think I know what track you are talking about but confused by your explanation. :-)

Cheers
David

Hi Truk. Did that trip a few years back. Not difficult, quite interesting. Navigation not difficult, did it without a GPS.
Section from Epsilion to Omicron could be impassable if wet. We by-passed the corner and headed to Fort Grey where we did a walk around Sturts old stockade etc. From memory, this track was not sign posted.
We met no other traffic on this road / track.

There were some minor dune crests so a flag is advisable.

The Bore track is also quite interesting ending and probably more scenic, ending with the drive down Bollards Lagoon.

You could also do the first part of the bore track rather than driving the Dillon Hwy.
Last August, the new road from Bollards lagoon to Cameron Corner was very corrugated and dusty.
Hope that this is of some help.
Cheers, Tony

With repect to those who have travelled the track you are talking about there is a concern with travelling this road.

Mining operations in the area have ramped up considerably in the last couple of years. There is a lot more traffic in the area and some of it is big and travelling quickly. The north end of the Bore track is also affected by this.

The above is true if you are travelling just on the Qld side.

If however, you are talking about turning south at the intersection near Nappa Merrie Station and heading down into NSW on what becomes the Silver City Highway, that is an easy run, (but a long way round to Camerons). The top part of the track is interesting as it winds around hills and up and down through dry creek beds. The furhter south you get the less interesting the run becomes.

When we travelled that road it became a bit of a long trip. It is much longer than the Bore track. We did have a time constraint and it was longer than we had expected forcing us to travel more quickly than we would have liked.

If you have time to travel slowly it could be a nice trip.

Hi Truk, My choice is the Bore track to Camerons Corner. We went from Cams to Innamincka on our way to Birdsville. A very easy and interesting drive.

Thanks to all who replied. The concensus seems to be the 'bore track', but to this point its closed, but will keep tabs on it till I leave on the 10th March.

It might stay closed if the idiots don't keep out of the bogholes!
They are sick & tired of asking people to use the "chicken tracks", only to be ignored.
