Heya Dave, i have the 4.2 iTD GU3, i run a 3" dump pipe and 3" mandrel bent system.....awesome power increase! Im not 100% sure, but as long as you put aftermarket, larger dump pipe, and say a 2.5" system should be great....3" is maybe too big for the little diesel, but call Beau Desert exhaust in QLD, they are very helpful, and will ship anywhere....hope this helps,

dont worry about stainless mate, unless ya putting it on a skyline or supra or something....mild steel is fine, but go for mandrel bending...and yes one muffler, not cat required.

thats what i was thinking about going the mild steel . i got a quote from
beaudesert and this is what they told me. what do you think??
good afternoon Dave
We make a 2 3/4" mandrel bent exhaust system to suit your 2.8 Ltr GU Patrol.
We believe this is the correct size for this vehicle.
The price is $870 for mild steel system plus $25.00 for packaging plus freight.
Stainless steel price is $1600.00 + packing + freight.
Alternatively, we can fit it in our workshop for an extra $125.
We have found most people are very happy with the low down torque that this exhaust system provides. Feel free to contact us for more info.
Thanks for your enquiry.
i only live about 1hr away too so i might drive in and get them to fit it

yeah i wont lie to ya, fitting it yaself is not hard, but it will peel some skin off the old knuckles, and the nuts can be seized. much easier to work on up on a hoist than laying under it. tool me around 6 hrs to do
mine.....i enjoyed it though. They are brilliant systems, i believe they are all hand made and engineered by BD.
Mine feels like a new car, totally, so much easier to drive. the quoted price for the mild steel is spot on. best money youll spend on the truck no BS
Cheers

I got a 2 1/2" mild steel fitted to my Navara. Cut engine pipe at about 100mm back from where it levelled out, went into a " hot dog " straight muffler and then dumped it downwards beside the spare tyre..
Cost $ 220 ,,, thats because its only 2 1/2",,3 " I'm not too sure of, but go to an exhaust place and
check, doubt if it would be twice the price.
Power increase is brilliant, and virtually no " lag "
Cheers Mate
