I use Garmins , actually running two , Garmin Quest and Garmin Nuvi 660 ,they both have different funtions that I like and use, I have no experience with TomTom I'll give you the drum on that......as for Navman I met a bloke who got one in
Sydney, he was in the Hills around
Perth and his had No back roads on it , he said it was fine in the cities but not in the country,I think Garmin is much better, The mapping software has the
Border track between Vic/SA from near Bordertown to the Sturt Hwy , or right to the tip of
Cape York and or the streets of
Birdsville, I use those area's as an example
Go to my
GPS website and
check out the specs for Garmins .

I'll third the garmin nuvi 660 as
well for general navigation, would be very hard to top. But I use my Garmin
GPS V for routes I have put together myself on a PC before I go on a trip. All about what you want a
GPS for, but cannot go wromg with Garmin (but no experience with other makes).
Cheers

Hi Ray.
I work with lots of different
GPS's in my job.
For the small
GPS it is pretty hard to go past the Garmin range.
I found Navman are of poor quality and don't seem to last.
As for the TomTom I have not used these.

If you want to do off road work make sure you can load additional applications like Oziexplorer to them.

I needed a new
GPS and did a bit of research before I purchased one. I finally got a PDA
GPS - HP iPaq 5765 travel companion.
It has the TomTom Navigator 6 pre loaded. I have added OziExplorer CE. I there fore can use TomTom for bitumen. OziExplorer CE for off road or walking. I can also connect it to my laptop and use Oziexplorer moving map on the laptop.
It still has the other functions of a PDA. The cost - retail $799-00 but can be purchased over the internet for about $699-00.
Hope this info assists you.
