Has anyone found a common alternator to replace that in a GQ 1991 Petrol (carby). Priced a second hand one at $340. whereas you can get them for common vehicles (Foulcans/Dunnydoors) for $20 to $30 at the wreckers.

Thanks avro

The GQ yahoo forum has some good reading on this. GQ I ended up ditching my 55amp Hitachi and had an auto electrical wholesaler make up a Bosch 85amp unit for approx $280. I couldn't see the point in spending big money on a bleep y 55amp alternator.

Excuse me young fella, just watch your language in future, or else you will be threatened with ex-communication, deportation and exile to a 4WD island where you will exist on a diet of arsenic laden damper.
