Hi Patrolzd30

I believe stocks have already run out to.

Knowing this, and that some prices will rise, a friend pickup up good one at
a victorian auction other day.
They had 3 ex police ones about 12months old $40-$42K with a few accessories like winches.

Got fingers crossed that next 3lt iteration will be better, but not really expecting much.

Hi,yeah I know what you mean, I had a 2003 3.0litre Patrol for a couple of years, but after a few problems with only 40,000KMs on the clock, I bit the bullet and got myself a 2003 Troopcarrier with the 1HZ in it.They are a really great truck, I couldn't be happier.

Same here Teabag...got me a 2006 build Cab Chassis because I knew of the coming demise of the 4.2 (and fed up with the 3L). Got in before the mad panic buying and saved a fare bit in the deal too.

Hi Donnny

Cant help you with the alternator, maybe you just got a crook one? But what I can tell you is arm yourself with a large bladed screwdriver hop underneath your ute & knock that bit of soundproofing rubber out between the back of the motor & the bell housing as you do oil changes it soaks up the oil spilled when changing the filters & looks like the rear main is gone. knock the rubber out , spray with degreaser ,wash it down let it dry problem solved??? Nissan or any new car service & warranty leaves a lot to be desired these days.
A good tune-up will get the thing crackin a bit, but these motors are known to take anything up to 80,000ks too loosen up, 78,000 on my present one 86,000 on another we owned.
Hope this helps
Cheers Steve.

Shame they couldn't have fitted direct injection and other mod's to bring it up to speed, even Toyota had the 12HT in the 80's with direct injection.

There biggest loss won't be in demise of the engine but more if they go IFS.

Nissan had no choise in the matter on this one guys , the old fosil , was so behind in emition that it wasnt funny. Now that it failed EU standards, it was all over red rover . Dont know what you are all crying about , it was a slug of a motor anyway, with what ! 100 kw , there are VW diesels pulling better horses than that

I was talking to the Nisan Dealer on Mid North Coast yesterday and he told me there were still 4.2TD available at the moment as I was thinking mabey of getting the last of them trading my 99 GU 4.2td but after looking at one I thought how ugly they look so I will keep my one and mabey they will become a collectors car HA HA.
He did tell me that there was a whisper that they were going to release a 4 liter or mabey a 4.5ltr but the 4.2 and the 3liter were no longer.
Long live the 4.2,s

Oh yeah, bloke at work had his brand new 4.2 sts patrol at work today, just traded his disco on it, according to nissan there were only 2 left in vic at least, a st and this sts, he got the sts for standard st price, gold manual wagon. nice example for the end of a champion.
