Im personally pretty disappointed for owners who have to go through all this stress.

Imagine being retirement age like most of them seem to be, buying your 'dream' car, probably the last one your planning on buying before dying for your once in a life time lap of the map, towing your mobile roadblock, and then going through this. Im waitin for someone to have a heartattack and die when told to bleep off and fix it yourself, then see what sort of press and reaction they get.

Nissan should have done the right thing by everyone both ways, recall, and bleep ed off the grenade from the range.

I completely agree and feel for anyone going through this issue. It was bad enough when I had my gearbox problems and this took 2 months to rectify with serveral visits to the dealer and weeks with out my truck. After sending faxes and jumping up and down I finally recieved replacement gearbox. You shouldn't need to hammer a company to get your warranty work done. Nissan need to look up the words 'customer service'. It's not the guys at the dealers it's head office where they say yes and no to claims.

I will probably never buy another new Nissan because of thier customer service.

I even hear this from members in the Nissan Club, apart from the reliability issues, theres the distinct lack of appearing to be keeping up with the opposition...

It's going to be a hard choice soon,

3.0lt 4 cylinder T/D datsun patrol that get about 9lt/100km with a history ofBIG problems when using this engine

OR

4.5lt V8 T/D Toy motor Land Bruiser that gets about 9lt/100km.
This engine is unknown in Aust. But O/S has proven to be very reliable.

Yes thats exactly what happened to us , we ploughed all our super and savings into our Patrol {$40,000} only to find this out I think you can imagine how we felt, as for Nissan paying labour or parts so they damn well should to think the customer should be paying anything is ludicrous, this is and always has been a common fault with that year/model, no other car in its class has been dogged with as many problems as this one, in spite of what people like Truckster say it's only NISSAN'S 3Ltr thats causing all this pain, the Paj, Toyo, Landy all have 3lt engines and few have as many issues as the Patrol, but he is right about one thing Nissans refusal to do the right thing has made sure THIS mug will never be caught by them again,
just wonder when it will all end and to what cost Nissan, meantime, on it goes, .................

The engine is now down to $6k I think as its a high replacement item.
