Hi guys
I am thinking of heading to
Mount Kosciuszko this weekend for some R&R.
I will be driving from Wagga Wagga (NSW) and am looking for some easy to medium 4x4 and camping sites.
If anyone has some GPS track or waypoint information that would be great.
I am not looking for any hardcore or difficult tracks as - 1) I will be one my own and 2) I just feel like some relaxing driving and pleasant camping
Come on guys, dust out those old track files and waypoint datas and send them my way :-)

Leatherback creek and Tom Groggan camping grounds, or Tom Groggan Hut across the river, access via the Alpine Way just past
Thredbo Village.
If you want to cross the river (depending on how high it is) when you enter Tom Groggan
campsite go in 100mtr on the right you'll see the
camp ground just keep going and keep the
camp area on your right, near the end you'll see the track straight on and the main track go right, keep left and go straight on.

I'd be interested to know how much water there is at the moment.

Well guys - sort of did some of the trip :-)
Thanks to all that replied to my original request
Left Wagga late Friday night and headed South- those of you who know me will realise that I dont always stick to the game plan :-)
Anyway ended up closer to
Melbourne than Thredbo and parked up in a truck stop and re-grouped early Sat morning and punched in
Thredbo Village into computer and after lots of side trips (I just can't resist all the signs that say - Historic this or that )
I ened up late Sat afternoon at
Geehi campsite. What a nice area, parked up right by the river and settled in for the night. Woken up at about 5:00am with the rain belting down.
Breakfats Sunday morning and up and over the
hill to finally find Tom Groggan
campsite.
Ended up crossing the
Murray River and into the Alpine National park on a nice little fire trail - crossed the Buckwong Creek and had a break in the little
camping area just across from the crossing - back onto the trail again for about 2 hours through a couple of locked gates that weren't.
Met a convoy of about 6 vehicles being lead by an Adventure 4 Wheel Drive guy. Didnt get to the end of the trail as I turned around and headed back as t was late morning and I needed to be back in Wagga by 3:00pm
- Left Tom Groggan at 11:30am and got back to Wagga right on 3:00pm
Will definitely go back there again but next time I will go straight t Tom Groggan :-) instead of 'sight seeing' in
Melbourne :-))))
I have posted a few pics on my website if you are interested

It won't let me look at the pics unless i join the group your in.
Certainly sounded like an adventure, did you
camp at Buckwong Hut or nearby, which track did you take over to it.

Hey Baz
Actually not sure of the answers 2 yr questions - all I know is I drove into Tom Groggan
campsite and ended up at the bottom where the road crosses the Murray. Drove over this crossing (water only came up to running boars) and onto bank other side.
There was a "T"
intersection left went away from Tom Groggan and up a
hill to an unlocked '
locked gate'. If I had turned right I belive the road would have taken me to Tom Groggan Station (from memory a
sign said something like "If the crossing is too deep then you can exit from TG station but you MUST have permission before doing so) I rememebr thinking "
well how do I know the crossing is too deep before I get there and even if I did how would I contact TG station?????) - anyway I turned left at that
intersection so I never had to answer the question :-)
I didnt see any Hut at the Buckwong
clearing - just a fireplace and a table and chair
Had a grea time - noting too difficult - some great scenery - just what my spirit was looking for
WILL DEFINITELY DO IT AGAIN - bfore the snows come and/or before the road closure period :-))
