Morning all, going to take the kids to Cobdogla for the weekend next week for the long weekend. As something else to do whilst up that way, are there any 4wd tracks to have a look around on fairly close? Barmara, Waikerie, Berri etc.

Thanks in advance
Shane

Theres a property at Loveday that has tracks you can use but you have to pay. They have a website, google should find it.

I guess you already have a copy of the RAA Riverland and Central Murray map. If not get one, a couple of $$ (like about 2) or free if you are an RAA member. It shows some tracks to go down (to camp sites etc.) in the Murray River National Park (Katarapko), not very exciting but you will get your wheels dirty and be near the River at all times.
We have in the past followed a loop from near Renmark , down 28th Street and again aroud the edge of the River (Lyrup Flats area) camp sites. I would not particularly reccomend any of these camp sites, but there is one which is O.K. and easy to get to with a caravan for an overnight stay 200 meters off the bitumen just North of the Lyrup ferry called Collogans Camp.
Off the Northern side of the bridge approaches between Cobdogla and Kingston On Murray there is a track which goes into the Loch Luna Game Reserve, tame but tracky. There is a nice little picnic area about 500 meters along this track which we call Marlin Point. If you go there you will see why. One one occasion we bush camped with our CT arriving late in the day amongst some trees in the Moorook Game Reserve. You could take in all 2 of 3 of the above areas as an extended day trip.

Use to live at Sunlands near Ramco 1961/69 and I use to go ripping about the back tracks in my GT Cortina 440 , yeh a real hoon I was , one good one is the track around back from Renmark to Wentworth north of the River.my Favorite was the roller coaster ride I got when I went right down the Western end of Sunlands , out of the Irrigation Scheme onto a track that took me toward the Murbko track, but turned left and headed for the Sturt Hwyafter about 6 Klm , Along that track is where I use to get the GT airborn Woopee, Now if your not into flying take the road from Blanchetown to Maggea then to Kingston on Murray via the Limestone roads

Hello Shane,

We're finally having a break away and are heading to Barmera for the long week end. We're camping at Lake Bonney CP with partners daughter, husband and two kids.

I've appreciated all the information given to you and might check out some of the tracks ourselves.

If you're passing by, call in and say hello. White/Silver Prado TRZ 099 and Outback Camper. We'll be just inside park gate on the lake side.

Have a good time

Viv
