Howdy all, The outlaw recently purchased a tojo 80 1994 vintage, petrol. No manual came with it. While playing with all the bells and whistle we noticed a switch on the dash marked ECT. Neither of us can figure out what it does. Can anyone help?..........cheers Lionel.

ECT...Electronic Controlled Transmission
its your power or economy switch, put it in power, and it wont go into overdrive till 100km/hr, so its good for towing heavy stuff. Put it in economy, and it will lock your torque converter each gear to save on slip, works well :)

Thanks Andrew, I'll duck over the road and, after some in depth thought, inform him of the purpose of the switch. Many thanks.......Lionel.

Colin, If I do that then I'll end up too maggoted to remember what the switch was for. Mind you, if he's that far gone, he won't recall what I said anyway. cheers.. Linl......Lioy.....Lena..........Lionel.

The ECT switch also shifts the gear change higher up the rev band and the up shift occurs higher into the torque .
