Can any one give some advice on installing rubber flares on my 1990 GQ? Is there any way to get around drilling holes in the wheel arches? The flares seem to just reach over the existing holes, but any holes made in the rubber will be to close to its edge.
I am now asking myself, is rubber flares a good idea at all!?

What is the issue with drilling holes in the arches? even if you put the stock flairs back on you wont see it, and more to point, you wont care

The issue is rust! A few posts have mentioned moisture and gunk getting stuck in there and eventually rusting out the arches.

Spray the screw-holes with fish-oil and keep the area clean of mud etc if you're really concerned.
Otherwise, for a minimal cost, their is a herbal remedy I have in stock that can be applied in conjunction with a Buddhist chant that will render your vehicle impervious to ALL THINGS

Thanks guys.
The buddhist chant is definately one that I apply daily, with a small laminated plastic card that reads " Shana Mantu La'ama Shalom" hanging on the rear vision mirror (given to me by my mother...)
The herbal remedy is interesting...is it vegetarian!

Hi Nielo, i had rubber flares on my '90 Patrol (i bought it off my dad who fitted the flares) i had no problems at all with rust, but if it is a concern, as stated before, just spray the holes with fish oil... or you could buy a pressure pack can the same (or similar) colour as your car & give them a squirt. Hope this helps
Cheers
Brad
