OK here is a funny question.
I have 2 dogs (kelpies) and I want to be able to make a separate area for them in the rear of the 4 runner so the luggage doesn't squash them. I am thinking of a splitter between the cargo barrier and rear window and then a shelf just above their head to make the most of the space. All made out of steel (like the cargo barrier) probably.
Has anyone done anything like this or have any pics of something similar. After any advice, like how to secure it all etc, etc, etc.

The way you describe it is similar to the K9 Police have here. In a Adventra wagon they have a divider running back from the cargo barrier- for a dog on each side. They have one of those whirly-gig thingos thru the roof.

yeah, dont need whirly gig thingo tho as they will only be in there for about 1.5hrs to get to the holiday house, they will never come camping on the long trips

well I made it. Changed the plans a bit after measuring up the dogs and the boot space.
have a bolt welded onto the frame and stick that through the cargo barrier and wing nu that on. The top, made a bracket up and secured it under the plastic housing that holds the light etc. The bottom we tech screwed a plate with a hole in it over the tabs in the floor and a drop bolt (not yet attached) slots into there to keep the bottom still.
all covered in kill rust black spray paint. total cost of $55 and couple of hours work.
