Hi I have read all the information on Trips to the Alice and surrounds but still have so questions.
We are thinking of travelling from
Newcastle NSW to
Alice Springs in October 2007. I have some concerns about the heat at this time of the year and have not been able to find good information concerning temps etc. Any opinions?
Secondly I am thinking of doing the Oonandatta Track and possibly
Birdsville on the way home. How many spare tyres would you think we should take?
Thanks in advance

Well, October is in the middle of spring and warming up for summer.
Go to www.bom.gov.au for better details.
It is always advisable to carry an extra spare tyre or complete spare wheel. Always drive to conditions and reduce your tyre pressures when travelling on gravel roads
Cheers

Thanks for that, so we have a spare for the car and another for the trailer would you carry an additional spare for each vehicle?

Cram,
Even if they are interchangeable, trailer and vehicle have the same size rim and tyre pattern. One for the trailer and 2 for the vehicle.
Trailer is least likely to have a flat but it can still happen.

Thanks Wayne, I posted my reply prior to reading yours. Unfortunately the car and trailer are not interchangable hence my question about extras. I have one for each, so will look at getting an extra for the car and possibly the trailer.
